Competition Diary

What is going well?: i have learnt how to use the new sampler function on the apple app Garageband. Also i have been using the chords C Em Am and F to compose my songs.

What isn't going well?: i need to speed up my work because i only have 3 weeks left but i do have my summer work as a back up.

What do you need to work on next composition session?: i need to work on my cords and implement them into a piano riff with the help of the simple piano function on Garageband.

What did i learn?: I learnt how to use the cords to my advantage.

November 2nd

What is going well? i am auctioning my targets that the class gave me by making my compensation longer and one theme.

What isn't going well?: the file when i send it is not compatible with the computers in school.

What do you need to work on? : i need to work on the transition between different section of the song.

What Did i learn? : I learnt how to use my ears to see if a track i created fits with the others when overlayed.

November 10th

 What is going well? : i have added to my composition at school

What wasn't going well? :  i need to edit my main song (the notes at the beginning of the song) because it is a minor note and it needs to be a major.

What do i need to work on?: i need to improve my class composition by adding a solid intro i need by adding a 4th note to it. i am thinking about adding a F note but i am debating weather to make it a minor or a mayor.

Whats going well? i have decided to finish my compensation and will start to research what i'm going to do next (what song or ideas).

Whats do i need work on? i need to start i new compensation.

What isn't going well?  i have NO IDEAS AAAAAAAAAAAAAA.

Whats going well? i have decided to start a new compensation like Popcorn.

Whats do i need work on? How i'm going to do this .

Jan 24th

Whats going well? I am listening to more and more popcorn remixes and i am getting a general idea what i need to do.

What do i need to work on? I need to find the cords i'm going to use on my compensation.

What isn't going well? I need to find these cords soon otherwise i will not meet my deadline!

Feb 1st 

Whats going well?: i have thought of a rhythm that can go with my parody of popcorn,This will allow me to build my song form this and add in a backing track.

What do i need to work on? i think i'm going to do this on garageband so i need to find out what instruments are on garageband.

What isn't going well? I am procrastinating a lot and i need to find out a way to stop this.

Feb 8th

Whats going well?: i have started to make my song on garageband and i have got a base of my song. I will now focus on a tune so i can make it better and better. Therefor i can make my song the best it can be.

What do i need to work on? I need to edit the tune it just don't sound right.

What isn't going well? I need to work on it a lot!

March 2nd

Whats going well?: i have worked out a tune for my garageband chiptune. This will allow me to get i nice start to my chip tune, so in the future it will be easier. this will allow me to dedicate more time to improving my overall composition and so i can plan my next one.

What do i need to work on? i am going to start developing my sounds and making new and improved songs.

What isn't going well? I need to work on it a lot!

March 9th

Whats going well?: i have added a second part to my tune that i have been creating. That would mean that my that my performance is longer so this means that i might hit my target of having 10 minutes of songs to play and create.  

What do i need to work on? I need to expand on my second part that i have been creating, This means that my performance will get better then all my other composition. therefore this will ensure that my composition is to the correct standard.

How was I successful in today's session?: I was successful in today's session by watching youtube videos with music in them so i could be inspired by the electronic background music that the videos had on. this allows me to progress in my composition by giving me new ideas and combining them in my music as this will improve the overall of my composition.

What isn't going well?  I keep getting distracted by people around me which makes it had for me to progress . I have addressed this by moving to another location to focus on my work. this will heighten my overall quality and progress speed of my work.

March 16th

Whats going well? i have added a sub tune to my chip tune peace of work. That will allow me to progress in my performance o i can submit it for a classic chiptune piece of work as my send off thing (i don't know the name).

What do i need to work on? I need to work on a core to my composition, this will allow me to improve all around the core , thus improving my composition. This will get my a higher grade on my over all mark not just a pass.

How was I successful in today's session?: i was successful in today's lesson because i completed my target that a wrote last week, so if i make more of this progress that will be able to use this progress more,

What isn't going well? i need to think of where i can go from this so i can improve my composition and make it the best it can.so this will allow me to complete it to the best of my abilities.

March 30th

Whats going well? I have preformed/played my compositions in front of the class and got some really helpful feed back E.G. i need to expand my songs so they last 5 mins each by repeating the last and first sections. This will allow me to achieve my end of year goal of making compositions that in total have 15mins of content.

What do i need to work on? i need to work on my blog and get all of the pages finished by the end of the year, so this will help me to get a merit in my work. This will get me the max level that i can in this course.

How was I successful in today's session? i was't successful as such but i did get some excellent feed back form my peers that will allow me to progress further in the course and become a better music practitioner.

What isn't going well?  i need to really progress on my blog because otherwise i will need to comeback to the catch up sessions and do it at home.
